In the Edwardian era, women's day dresses and evening gowns had an S-curve
silhouette. During the 1920s, the hems rose and decorations became more showy.
This would lead to more conservative dresses during the Great Depression. After
the end of World War II, in 1947, Christian Dior introduced his "New Look" of
nipped-in waistlines and full skirts. Luxurious fabrics were used for these
dresses, and the ball gown was re-introduced. The ball gown often has a
strapless bodice, although short and long sleeves are common as long as the cut
is off-the-shoulder. Ball gowns remain the most formal female attire to this
day, and are worn exclusively to balls.

This gorgeous vintage collection salmon empire waist dress was inspired on
dresses first worn by Napoleon's first Empress Josephine de Beauharnais in the
1800's and it will make you look and feel like a princess.

Made from 50% cotton and 50% polyester this gorgeous evening dress has
spaghetti straps and has been beautifully made. The bodice of the dress ends
just below the bust but just above the natural waistline. The skirt of the
dress is long and fits loosely, skimming the body and elongating the figure.

This silhouette is especially flattering for women who are pear-shaped. There
is a zip at the back of the dress and a beautiful satin sash that gathers and
ties into a bow at the back. It is stunning.

Empire waist dresses are popular choice amongst the stars and can be seen on
the runway and red carpet events because of their flattering-yet-comfortable
fit. This dress would be perfect for formal occasions, weddings, cruises, balls
